Alya lives in a small seaside town. She is in love with a simple fisherman Ivan, expects a child from him, and dreams of upcoming marriage. But on the wedding day, Ivan does not come to Ala and soon she learns he has died in an attempt to rob a warehouse. Under the pressure of mother, Alya leaves to the village to give birth there but the child dies during the delivery. Heartbroken Alya returns home and faces attentions from Tolik Kuntsev, the son of the city's mayor. Alya agrees to marry without loving him. Four years later, Alya learns that Ivan is alive. Ivan says he was forced to flee by the Kuntsev family - the family of Alya's husband. Alya's feelings to Ivan flare up with new strength and she is ready to oppose her relatives for him. But soon Alya begins to realize that Ivan has returned to their city not only for love...
