Ivan and Anya are having hard times in their family. Ivan's ex-wife Olga with a small son rushes into their life: they had to leave Omsk in a hurry, after Olga's husband Eduard has got into some bad story. Anya hopes that Edik will come soon and take his family back, but Olga seems to be planning to stay for a long time and wants to divorce from Edik. Might she have some intentions concerning Ivan? Anya worries and follow her husband after he had whispered about something with Olga and they secretly went to some motel on the outskirts of the city. Anya comes there to learn what's going on. But in a motel room, instead of her husband she finds only his knife and… Eduard's corpse.
Valentina - Anya's mum - goes out for a short while and disappears. Our heroes are off their legs, trying to find her and suspect Valentina could have been kidnapped. But who would kidnap an elderly woman from a poor family? And what for? It turns out that Valentina has sold a plot with a summer cottage in the countryside for suspiciously big money. Her husband Gleb believes she could have been kidnapped by the son whose mother owns a neighbouring summer cottage to get a ransom. But it would be too simple… It turns out that Valentina has recently inherited huge money different forces compete for. These forces can give short shrift to Valentina and Anya anytime. But most of all, the heroine worries about Gleb: will his vulnerable heart manage to bear the pain when he learns Anya is not his daughter?
